Edel Kearney

Edel Kearney’s passion for Irish dance began at the tender age of four, when she joined the renowned Brennan-Miskelly-McCormack School of Irish Dance in County Down. Coming from a family deeply rooted in the Irish dance tradition, Edel quickly demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication. Over the next 12 years, she competed at the highest levels, participating in prestigious events such as the All-Ireland and World Championships, where she showcased her skills on the global stage. Following her successful competitive career, Edel transitioned into the professional Irish dance industry, where she has become a highly sought-after performer. She has toured internationally with acclaimed productions, including Celtic Dream, Gaelforce Dance and Rhythms of Ireland. 

 

These opportunities have allowed Edel to refine her craft, performing for diverse audiences worldwide and gaining invaluable experience in the art of Irish dance.In addition to her performing career, Edel is a key figure in the Irish dance community in Belfast, where she serves as the Director of Unity Irish Dance. Under her leadership since 2017, Unity Irish Dance has garnered critical acclaim, including nominations for Best Live Performance at the Dublin Events Industry Awards and winning Best Entertainment at the Northern Ireland Entertainment Awards. 

 

The group has continued to grow and innovate, notably during the COVID-19 lockdown when they launched the 'World in Unity' series. This ambitious project united over 500 dancers from 25 countries, receiving tens of thousands of views across social media platforms.Edel is currently turning her creative focus towards her role as Co-Choreographer.

 

This upcoming tour is highly anticipated and promises to further elevate Edel's influence in the world of Irish dance as she continues to push the boundaries of the art form on a global scale.
